The Challenge.


Hello world.

I have exactly 109 days to lose weight, lower my HGBA1C, lower my BMI, and improve my overall fitness rating as an attempt to give someone very dear to me the best birthday present he as ever received!

Challenge Goals

  • Weight - lose 14.7lbs
  • HGBA1C - 2% lower
  • BMI - 5 points lower
  • Overall fitness Rating - 20 to 25 points higher
My boyfriend and I have been together for over two years. Him and I work full time office jobs and WE LOVE FOOD. About 90 percent of the photos in our phones are of all the different types of glorious food we have eaten! However, sitting all day at work, playing video games at home, and eating a lot of yummy food can have a bit of a negative effect on your body. About a year ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The diagnosis was a shock considering I have been healthy most of my life. Over the last year we have tried hard to get healthy again and live better lifestyles. Well, his birthday is coming up and the only thing he wants is for us to be healthy and happy. If I make changes now and I do this for him then in little to no time at all we will be on our way to a healthier and happier lifestyle.

My First Week

I haven't done much research yet on meals I would like to try. I know that breakfast is going to be a yogurt with a side of fruit. For lunch I am going to make myself a bento box full of yummy healthy eats. For dinner I will eat a larger portion of veggies and a small portion of lean protein. I do want to try and eat more fish, I am not fond of fish, I intend on finding recipes that are easy to follow and reduce the amount of smelly fishy flavors. I am looking forward to using my spiralizer, crock pot, and mini food processor to make healthy meals, all of which I am not very skilled in using yet so I imagine this will be quite the learning process.

Food Goals:

  • Learn to make Hummus 
  • Eat more fish 
  • Drink only water and tea (unsweetened) 
I also plan on testing my blood at least three times a day. In an attempt to lower my overall HGBA1C test results I will need to closely monitor my levels daily so that I can make changes where necessary to my diet. I know that carbs and sugars can be bad for me since my daily ranges usually swing high.

Glucose Goals

  • Test three times a day 
  • Do not eat carbs after 5PM 
  • Avoid sugars and processed foods. 
I like the idea of monitoring my progress closely. I also like technology. I will be using a few different apps to keep an eye on things throughout this challenge.
